Jun 28, 2018 I've said this before, but Jamaica is an incredibly homophobic country. Police beatings of gay people, life endangering attacks on a daily, a strongly historically rooted culture of homophobia : ("Battybwoy" == gay). So when i see Americans complaining about homophobia in America, i must wonder if a country where public figures can be publicly gay really has a big deal with homophobia, because people outed as gay in Jamaica used to just be killed. Now they get their lives systematically ruined, and any political incentive to change this (which is coincidentally caused by political pressure from the US to make these changes) meets massive public backlash. Thankfully the more atheistic segments of my generation are more liberal. But Jamaica is also a very Christian country too..... That being said, i have no idea what it's like in other countries. So how exactly does your country treat fa----s?
Jun 28, 2018 We legalised gay marriage about 5 years ago in New Zealand. I'd say we are better than most countries.
Jun 28, 2018 h----------, unisexual, bisexual are all legal in the US so I would say we are a pretty gay country. #SlytheringSnape
Jun 29, 2018 1 Timothy 2:12, "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be silent." So i should be sexist?
Jun 29, 2018 The political party in control of every branch of our government is expressly homophobic. Most of the economic elites have bought into diversity for marketing reasons though. No anti-sodomy laws or anything. Could be worse I suppose.
Jun 29, 2018 Imagine the historical ignorance you'd have to suffer from to argue there isn't a racial hierarchy in this country. Read a book.
Jun 29, 2018 Not what I said. The idea that we have a prevalent issue in the Western world with bigotry, hate and intolerance is simply fake. It's pure mythology. The average white person doesn't hate minority groups, nor is the average white person responsible in any way, shape or form for any problem that plagues the average minority. And Western elites are overwhelmingly hostile to white people and white interests and in favor of multiculturalism. What world are you living in?
Jun 29, 2018 There are rich black people in America. America has had a black president. It's not like women in saudia arabia. Black people in america are fine lol.
Jun 30, 2018 200 years ago, if you were black, you were a slave. 100 years ago, if you were black, you were an indentured servant. 50 years ago, if you were black, you were a second class citizen. Today, if you are black, you're just impoverished or in prison. We're making great progress.
Jun 30, 2018 so black people are poor? Tough s---, your parents didn't have s---, you gotta make s--- for yourself : Black people are in prison? Those individuals committed crimes. Jay-z said sumn about n-----'s being the ones who killed X didn't he. Maybe that's why they get thrown behind bars.
Jun 30, 2018 Those people are, by definition, exceptions. The war on labor in this country has been thorough and devastating across racial groups. It just so happens black peoples, who have been downtrodden to begin with thanks to various institutions/practices/circumstances from slavery to no GI bill for black soliders in WWII to black exclusion in the New Deal to redlining to the war on drugs to an exploding prison population. For example, though the collapse of the housing market f----- the entire country, black people were especially prone to have most of their wealth (usually 10x less than their white counterparts) in their homes. So when the rug was pulled out, they got hit harder than anybody. This is just one instance of how race intersects with general economic problems beating down on the vast majority of American households. Black people are sentenced longer for the same crimes as their white counter parts. That's when they're proven guilty by an actual trial. 90% of the time suspects are pushed into pleading guilty by threat of maximum sentences alone, white or black. Our court system is completely broken, and like with the economy, these institutions just so happen to beat down on disadvantaged races particularly hard. One in five black men are in prison. Many for non-violent crimes. Many in private prisons which derive a profit off of their suffering. So while your platitudes are fine for cat posters, they don't really take into account the entire scope of the issues at work when you talk about black disadvantage in this country. It's often just an exaggerated form of the issues that white people also face. The broadest ones at least. There are of course issues specific to women and minorities and trans people exclusively as well. A lot of the grievances are inter sectional in some way. Work hard and don't commit crimes are great personal advice but completely ignore the systems and conditions which drive these problems. Fixing them requires that perspective as opposed to being a privileged scold, but I suspect people like you aren't interested in fixing these things at all.
