Aight yall I'm bout to reveal just how pretentious living in Seattle has made me in terms of my coffee consumption. Let's be real: 90% of drip coffee is f---ing trash. There's tons of great ways to make coffee that don't result in bitter bean sludge that gives you acid reflux. Most people who claim they don't like coffee have probably only drank s-----y drip coffee. Once you realize how good coffee can taste you'll never wanna go back.

    @LifeSXN

Anyway I usually make my coffee one of three ways depending on what I'm in the mood for and how much I'm finna drink.

    French Press
    [IMG]
    Aeropress

    Moka pot
    [IMG]
Apparently this is how most regular Italians make their coffee at home, not espresso. I even seent in Call Me By Your Name.

I feel like there's two people in the world. People that don't drink coffee or people that can't function without having at least three. I genuinely like coffee but can go a year without having it which I think puts me in a vast minority ha

I don't really ever drink it now - I notice if I have like an energy drink or a coffee drink now on my ADHD meds it almost overdoes it and I get really spacey/overworked mentally instead of making me buzz off my head which is what you'd expect if anything.

Plus, as a smoker having coffee is a diarrhea contract. You have both of those things and your body gives you a five minute warning to get to the toilet or you're f-----.

Keurig. I've got a brand of kcups that works for me and is reasonably cheap. Italian sweet cream creamer and good to go. French press is decent too though.

I had an Aeropress in high school, but these days I just use a coffee maker. I wonder if I could even tell the difference with a blind taste test.

My grandfather has a little pot he uses to boil water a cup at a time. Drinks it out of the same mug he washes weekly. Instant off brand. No Country for Old Man s---.

Anybody try making iced coffee with a Hyper Chiller? Was entertaining buying one a while back.

That or getting into cold brew. Not really ideal for the winter months though.

Keruig's are cool and super convenient but I've found it really depends on what k-cup you use. Some taste like absolute s--- and some are pretty good.

French press is super simple. You just put water to boil on the stove and put coarsely ground coffee in the bottom of the glass beaker, then pour the water over it once it boils. Let it steep for 3-10 minutes (depending on your pref), then press the plunger down to filter out the grounds. These are nice for when you have company cuz they make like 32 oz at a time

An aeropress is kinda hard to explain so here's a video. I think the idea is basically that it steeps for a short while and then you use the air pressure to push the water through the grounds/fliter and into the cup:

Here's a demonstration for a how a moka pot works. Pretty close to the taste of espresso imo—I usually just pour what it makes into a 16 oz. mug and then fill the rest with hot water for an Americano type thing

I also make cold brew during the spring/summer sometimes. It's super simple. Basically just coarsely grind a bag of coffee and toss it in a gallon bucket, then fill it up like 3/4 of the way with water. Let it sit for 12 hours or so, then filter it out. Obviously you can play around with the ratio but it's always better to use less water and have to cut it later than to come out with watery brew.

Usually drip but I use a french press occasionally.

I'm not a daily coffee person, but honestly people who hate drip coffee are probably just using s-----y coffee or have crappy water. If you buy a quality roast and (just as important) have good quality water, there's absolutely nothing wrong with standard drip brew.

I find drip coffee to be too acidic a lot of the time. I've had real good drip coffee before—but you're right, the vast majority of people I know who make drip coffee don't buy good coffee and don't really know how to make it right and it usually ends up a little burnt/acidic/etc.
