The redacted Mueller Report has been our for a couple months now & Robert Mueller himself made his first public statement regarding his investigation. Now there’s an ongoing battle on if House Democrats should start the impeachment process due to accusations that president Trump obstructed justice.

The special counsel/Robert Mueller was clear that if they were confident Trump did not commit a crime, they would have said so in the report. They did not. They decided not to come to a conclusion on whether or not the president obstructed justice because it’s long time DOJ policy that you cannot indict/charge a sitting president.

1000+ former federal prosecutors from across the country have signed onto a statement claiming if Trump were not president, he would be charged with multiple counts of obstruction of justice:

Numerous democrats running for president in 2020 have called for the impeachment process to begin:

Should the House impeach Trump for obstruction of justice? Why or why not?

Impeachment is entirely a political process not to be confused with a criminal one so yes. If Congress feels Trump has broken the law, they can impeach & remove him from office & refer criminal charges over to the DOJ who then can determine whether or not to charge/indict him since he is no longer president.

Side note: Impeachment is a fairly lengthy process just to be clear though. This would include Impeachment hearings where witnesses would be brought before the House for public testimony. Those individuals would likely include people who work/worked in the Trump administration. In the senate, Trump would be put in a trial-like setting where he’d likely have his lawyer(s) next to him. He’d face stern questioning from the senators who would after vote whether to remove him from office.

Idk I think he should be impeached but at this point I don’t think it would even matter re-election isn’t that far away now and I highly doubt he gets re elected. And form what I understand the impeachment would take so long he wouldn’t even actually be removed from office by re-election time.

If he were impeached, he’d likely be acquitted by the Republican controlled senate. The argument is though by not doing anything, it sets a precedent that presidents are above the law & face no repercussions for breaking the law. At least by starting the impeachment process, they’ll be public hearings which will inform the general public of the president’s wrongdoings/crimes. Two weeks before Nixon resigned, only like 15% of the American public supported impeaching him. Impeachment hearings can do a lot in moving public opinion.

    Disliked and negged.

No, there’s no solid evidence that Trump directly had collusion with Russia. Even Mueller said it would be unconstitutional to try and indict trump, since they didn’t have solid evidence against him. What we have here is a conspiracy case against trump. I thought maybe Enigma was right, and trump may be indicted once he leaves office. However, with Mueller stepping down, I don’t think Trump is going to be. That would be a huge boost for Mueller and his credibility, if he got trump on an indictment. I think he was honestly embarrassed over this investigation resulting in nothing against trump. Which led to him having a breakdown and quitting his position.

Maybe the other investigations currently going on against trump will bring some sort of trouble for him. Probably not, but maybe.

The sooner he's out of office, the better for basically everybody(whether they realize it or not..) 1000+ prosecutors saying he'd be indicted if he wasn't in office is pretty telling.

I don't think he'll be impeached and I'm worried if they try, it'll just end up giving him more momentum. Just hope he's gone by the 2020 election at the absolute latest, been a disaster every single day with him in office.

Despite common belief, when Republicans impeached Clinton, Republicans maintained majorities in both the House & Senate & won the presidency two years later. It’s unlikely that having public hearings which would lay out the full extent of Trump’s crimes would help him in any way shape or form.

As an outsider its sometimes hilarious to watch. Its like a prank 'hey lets make a bored millionaire president' gone wrong really lol

But in reality it's sad to see. This whole fight between pro and against Trump, whatever, but the crazy ideas he has and things he does aren't gonna help the US or the world.

Wish more people on the ‘no’ side would speak up cuz I struggle to see how any logical person thinks Trump staying in office is good for the country.

If you think trying to impeach him won’t work or will backfire or whatever then that’s another story, so I’d be curious to know why people voted no.

It doesn’t even have to be a pro-trump/anti-trump position here. The argument for impeachment is more so about American democracy. Do we let a president who has so obviously committed federal crimes go unpunished? Do we really want to set that precedent? This is a Republican member of Congress. Not just an ordinary Republican either; he’s a house freedom caucus member (staunchly conservative group within Congress):

Pelosi is being a coward & that’s really the *only* reason impeachment hearings have not started. Her inaction re: the mueller report is precisely why people hate politicians & politics in general. You talk a big game but when it comes down to it, you don’t have the guts to do what needs to be done. This is encouraging though:

It’s the absolute truth. She’s sitting on her hands & running out the clock. I can already hear her next year, “it’s an election year! No point in holding impeachment hearings now.”

False. Enigma is right here. Pelosi is always running her mouth in the wrong places, and it doesn’t result in s---. She’s making herself hated by the majority of Americans the past 4 months. She’s only adding fuel to Trumps fan base. What has she done that was a positive thing? She has major twitter fingers.
