Jun 2, 2019 I haven't really been up to date w everything Kanye did after Ye and KSG. But the things I did hear so far.... don't make me think his next album will be good. Obviously that doesn't have to mean anything, its Kanye, but still. Are there any songs/features I missed that can give me hope?
Jun 2, 2019 I think it's gonna be worse than Ye, these recent leaks been trash af, I don't want religious Kanye tbh. He better pull off another Jesus Walks. But yeah, I hope he'll come through with something great.
Jun 2, 2019 He's delusional w his political and other bs lol. That song he made w TI sounded not bad but he needs to focus on music tbh. I want Trump to go not because I hate him but because it ruins a lot like music, people on this forum etc lmao
Jun 2, 2019 The fact that he's taking his time with it and not rushing it out in a week gives me some level of hope that it might be better than Ye, but yeah these leaks and snippets are not good.
Jun 3, 2019 not many tbh but its still kanye and i still enjoyed ye even though it was more of a mixtape
Jun 3, 2019 I kinda feel the same. I think we are witnessing one of the most prolific fall-offs in history right now (well, for the last 4 years really). I hope I'm wrong but Kanye does not seem to be in tune with what his fans want.
Jun 3, 2019 I know there's an incredible spark of creativity somewhere in the abyss of his mind, I'm just hoping it comes out as a clear idea. Lately it seems he struggles with that aspect in his music, something that never used to happen before with Ye. We're either getting a Hallelujah classic or a Ye Shrug, or better yet nothing at all.
Jun 3, 2019 You could see signs of that frustration re: a clear idea starting with Pablo—or when it was So Help Me God specifically. Cuz he had the acoustic Paul McCartney Only One/FourFiveSeconds s--- and then stuff that sounded like All Day, Piss on Your Grave, and God Level which are two extremely conflicting sounds. I remember some quote where specifically referenced how he was having trouble balancing the album because of that which I assume led to that year delay. Kids See Ghosts worked I think because Cudi and Kanye were able to cancel out their worst tendencies and bring out the best in each other. I think he really needs a guiding voice like that. If you look at all his albums from the past decade he always had people to help guide him toward his vision. MBDTF he had a whole rap camp, WTT had Jay, Yeezus had Rick Rubin. A haphazard album like Pablo only works once (and even then a bunch of songs had been finished for ages from the SHMG stage), cuz the whole point is that it was sort of a manic series of ups and downs that represents that struggle to maintain balance. With Ye he scrapped an entire album and redid it in a month. There's a couple good songs on there but like you said there's no clear vision. There's some interesting threads going on but he never really follows any of them in full—which is what happens when you're still recording your verses the day of your listening party. I'm just happy he's not giving himself another arbitrary deadline. It's a shame he'll probably never get over wanting to be in the news constantly, cuz he's at the point in his career where he doesn't need to be putting music out all the time. We got a Kanye album almost every year from 2004 to 2013 if you include CS and WTT, and while I doubt he'll ever top or meet his highest highs, I'd be more than content if we got something Pablo quality every 3-5 years.
Jun 3, 2019 This sounds good but I'm pretty worried about the content of any Kanye song with the word "Slave" in it in 2019 lol
