Aug 16, 2021 What I mean is, does the cover art for projects leave you with an impression? Is it important to you? Does the image help associate the music in your head when you hark back to certain works? Does cover artwork matter? I’m sure it’s the artist in me speaking, but for me it’s kind of important. It’s like the cover of a book or the poster for a movie. It’s what people see before they get into it. Technically, it has nothing to do with the music and shouldn’t influence the album itself, but I find that a great album with a great, meaningful image on it means a little more to me and makes that image associate itself with the music; forever entwined together in my head.

Aug 16, 2021 Nope, not at all. Especially in this digital era. It would only bother me if I had a CD collection and the cover was ugly. But that would just be an aesthetic thing. It would have no impact on the music whatsoever.
Aug 16, 2021 No. I care 0% about the artwork. Sure, I can appreciate a good cover but it has zero influence on the music. Who cares if an artwork is good if the music sux lol. Or if the artwork sucks if the music is classic.. I sure don't.

I think it sorta depends on the artist and what they may be trying to display in the artwork. It's not an important aspect but it can be a useful one imo. The artwork has nothing to do with the music, but in a lot of cases it helps encapsulate the vibe of the album. But like @Wreckless said, we're in this digital era, so it's all different.

Aug 16, 2021 I think when you boil it down, this is ultimately where I stand. An example to me of a great album with a bad cover is Pray for Paris. A great project with a lackluster, half assed photoshop job on the front of it. Doesn't ruin the music, but it's a good example. The designer who made that and many other covers got ridiculed pretty bad a year or two ago. I think it was because of that horrid Pop Smoke posthumous album cover that 50 Cent commissioned out on IG iirc.

Aug 16, 2021 Funny only reason I check this album out is because of the cover. I guess for rap it's a little much but literally looks like a metal album cover.
Aug 16, 2021 I mean, I guess it looks okay compositionally. It's not an original image/painting. The designer took a 17th century painting and photoshopped necklaces onto it with 0 effort. Probably took 5 minutes. Looks like s--- the more I look at it imo.
Aug 17, 2021 The album cover (and title) doesn't affect the listenability or enjoyment of the music. But it can change people's perception on what the album means and possibly the cultural impact. Especially for a concept or story album, the cover/title helps sell the idea.
