One of my personal favorite Pop Punk bands and band in general is releasing their 6th studio album after a 5 year hiatus (that of which was occupied by solo projects of the members) titled "This Is Why" in February. I'm making this thread to showcase the singles and to revisit when the album eventually drops.

There are main 2 inspirations for the record, the first is old funk rock bands like Talking Heads and the Red Hot Chili Peppers album Freaky Styley as shown in the first single, the title track:
And the other of the inspirations is British Dance Punk, the main band of which was Bloc Party. And you can really hear it in their newest single which came out just a few minutes ago:
Fair warning, I'm going to get absolutely insufferable when this album comes out if it's good and they've never made a bad album so get ready.

Only scratched the surface with Paramore but I virtually love every output they made. Excited for this!

If you liked the heavier songs on Sour then you gotta listen to the Paramore discography it's so solid, they started with their first album at like 16 years old so seeing the progression and them getting way better is very fun.

I heard Misery Business long before it was compared to good 4 u and probably some other songs I don’t remember right now. I like it a lot, and you’re right, I should dive into their discography since I’ve never bothered to. I probably will after I’m done obsessing over Bktherula’s last album… which will probably be tonight since SZA’s new album is coming out. Then I can listen to these Paramore songs. The News sounds interesting based on your description of the British Dance Punk.

My main nitpick of the songs so far is that I think the writing on their last project and Hayley's solo work was a lot stronger, I think they might be simplifying the lyrics for the general messaging of the concept and to make it easier for crowds to jump in on during live shows.

I only heard about a minute of this song, trying not to spoil myself on the rest of the record until it comes out since it's only 10 tracks. This is bound to be one of their most divisive songs ever since it's so different from the norm, I didn't know how to feel at first but now I kinda dig what I heard.

The trajectory of this band going from emo/pop punk, slowly getting more poppy into doing the best 80s pop nostalgia record that's been released into whatever this is now is super weird but I appreciate how much they're playing around with their sound and willing to get weird with it.

Minor and This Is What It Feels Like are both good imo. She dives deeper into the folk sounds and the pop sounds on This Is What It Feels Like, as well as going more in depth about her mental health. Minor has more synths and pianos, and is more relationship based (but still has some mental health topics) than This Is What It Feels Like. Minor is more cohesive, This Is What It Feels Like is more versatile

You’re obviously not dedicated enough. A real fan would run barefoot for hours/days through an active war zone to attend a Paramore early listening event. SMH!

Im very excited but I have a feeling based on the singles it's gonna land on the bottom half of their discog for me, but on the other hand I can see this also being the exact opposite with no in-between lmao.

Bottom half of their discog are still bangers too so it doesn't mean much at the end of the day, and by the way it sounds it seems like the length between this release and the next will be shorter which softens the blow of this only being 10 tracks after 6 years.
