if anyone doubts how great big was, think about how hard it is to make this list, then consider that you're only pulling from two albums. throw in features and lose your f---ing mind.

god, i don't even know where to start--

    "n----s Bleed"
    "Warning"
    "Mo Money Mo Problems"
    "Going Back to Cali"
"I Got a Story To Tell"
    "Kick In the Door"
    "Juicy"
    "Things Done Changed"
    "Respect"
    "I Love the Dough"

i'm looking at the list and want to put twelve more on. there's not a single song in this thread that i'm like, "nope, that one shouldn't be here."

The only thing I'm pretty certain about -- personally -- is I wouldn't agree with including MMMP. If only because of the competition. Only one list so far has mentioned Sky's The Limit, and that doesn't feel right to me, even though I left it off myself.

ah see i think that's one of rap's greatest songs. the unintended sadness of puff's "ten years from now we'll still be on top" puts it over the top.

fair, i just find it poppy in a bad overly syrupy way. and its barely big's song, so verges on disqualification for this particular exercise. (again if only because the competition is stiff.)

agree to disagree on the pathos of puff daddy (walter lee younger aside)

i've always thought that poppiness revealed one of biggie's greatest strength--to make the ultra-syrupy stuff that was popping at the time feel gritty and human. rapping about guns and phone taps and the dea on the diana ross sample. (juicy works much in the same way.)

juicy is the ideal imo, but i agree. i think the diana ross overwhelms the overall song a tad too much, especially as i mention once you couple it with mase and puff's verses, big's presence is somewhat minimized. like for a few yrs, i simply assumed this was off no way out

Unless I'm mistaken those were the last verses he ever recorded before his fateful trip to LA, crazy thing was someone of his talent on the mic was still showing signs of improvement...

It was his last song he worked on.
I think he would've gotten better if he didn't get shot.
