    no beastie boys/vanilla ice/icp.
if eminem wasnt the first white rapper to "blow up" who would it have been?
the way i look at it, eminem paved the way for any white rapper that had a sliver of a career in the rap game... but what if it wasnt eminem? what white rapper do you think would of been the ice breaker for white people and hip hop?
there are so many to name, i will name some that i can think of at the moment, if you think of any others feel free to post them.
we got yelawolf, mgk, paul wall, bubba sparxxx, lil wyte, mac miller, rittz, riff raff, macklemore, and asher roth.
theres a bunch more but well just list the ones that actually had a hit/career. i feel like this is a good topic for discussion, so discuss.

bonus fun fact: post malone is the first white rapper to drop the n bomb on a song and release it

RA definitely... dude was down with Biggie and Wu-Tang. Don't know how you can just discount Beasties they are definitely icons and in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame.

House of Pain was huge and Everlast was a white boy who dropped the N-word in the 90's (Cage as well and other rappers) and was brought out by Ice-T in the 80's.

Plus, there was a ton of others... it's just wrong.

well im not saying like who was the first white rapper i mean like... i dono its hard to explain what i mean here, like i look at house of pain and beastie boys as rock almost... like id put fred durst in that rap/rock category i suppose... and i never knew everlast did that lol f--- it tho, and i discredited a lot of people like cage and r.a. because not a lot of people have heard of them, especially the jits on here lol

edit: i feel like eminem is the first white person in the music industry to be strictly labeled a rapper by the masses. if he wasnt who would it have been
obvs if it wasnt for dudes like everlast and the beasties eminem would of never been, ehhh... you confused the f--- out of me res im not trying to climb out of this hole youve dug me :emoji_wink:

I don't know, man... this thread seems like a Starnizzy thread.

House of Pain wasn't rock at all... there was probably 30 white rappers that went gold before eminem came along.

I think they count. There were white rappers that you might not think were culturally significant... like 3rd Base... but MC Serch put NaS on and his name is on the back of the most important rap album of all time.

The Beastie Boys were the first rappers to go platinum. No clue why you'd exclude them.

License to Ill is one of the highest selling albums of all time, and highly influential. And Beastie Boys are indeed rap.

Not sure what else you're looking for.

The problem with R.A. is that he constantly f----- himself over with his crazy antics. He essentially got himself blacklisted. I don't know who would have broken through. You had a lot of White rappers in the underground and even some guys who were around bigger acts (Miikbone/Naughty By Nature, Knucklehedz/EPMD). Eminem initially succeeded because Dre backed him. So whichever White rapper was going to blow up (if Em never did), would have to be backed up by a respected Black mogul or artist in the industry at the time. But I don't think those guys were thinking about signing White rappers. Diddy and Timbaland started signing White rappers after Dre and Em's success. It's hard to say really. I know MC Serch had a hand in creating Non Phixion and helped get them signed to Geffen Records but they never reached a major level of success and eventually left Serch and Geffen. Serch's popularity was also waning. Dre and Em was the result of great timing. Dre's label wasn't doing too well and he needed a huge boost. Em's popularity was rising in the underground. Commercial Rap didn't have a respected White rapper for years. All the stars aligned, Dre and Em connected and the rest is history.

Also, you're wrong about that Post Malone bit. Necro, Action Bronson, Ill Bill, Bubba Sparxxx, Cage have all said "n-----" on record before him. Even Dru-Ha, the co-founder of Duck Down Records (and who isn't really a rapper), said the n-word on Black Moon's first album.
