I need to see some high class ones like Three Colors. The rest of Wook's Revenge Trilogy and Polanski's Apartment Trilogy specifically.

    Before trilogy
    Bourne trilogy
    Cornetto trilogy
    Toy Story trilogy
    Indiana jones trilogy

    honorable mentions:
Star Wars (would've replaced Indiana Jones if ROTJ was better)
Lord of the rings trilogy (probably should be on there but I thought of the others first and just couldn't knock them off)
    Man With No Name trilogy
    Godfather trilogy
Three colors trilogy (only doesn't make it because I don't think white's as good as the other 2, and I'm a sucker for consistency)

Back to the Future III is the worst entry of any trilogy named besides the Matrix. Agreed?

It breaks the symmetry of the first two so severely that I just can't forgive it.

I may be in the minority here, but I think Back to the Future II is the worst of the three on repeat viewings. It has some of the best sequences, but it's definitely the messiest of the three. III is a little goofy at times but much more solid.

Die hard 2 is the reason I didn't even consider those movies for the list. Same with the Matrix sequels. Godfather 3 isn't as bad as everyone says, but it's certainly not great.

Messy compared to the first, but I think it fit with the first movie infinitely better than the third. The recent past and near future play off of each other so well in those movies. From a golden age to a dystopia, from the known to the unknown, from the parents to the kids, it's a perfect duality. The third is a pit stop in the old west for no reason.

Die Hard with a Vengeance is on par with the first for me, and I'd rather a trilogy sag in the middle than end anticlimactically. It also works perfectly in terms of progression in regards to scale.

I'll grant you that thematically the second film works better on paper, but it's very sloppy and at a certain point it loses the sense of joy and humor that the first one had in favor of a very dark second half. Which isn't necessarily bad (most of my favorite films are quite dark), but it makes the film feel disjointed and without that light-hearted wonder helping suspend disbelief all of the time travel plotholes become much more apparent.
