This may be more popular now that it’s being reappraised, but Relapse is sequenced to be a metaphor or meta commentary on Eminem’s career, dysfunction and descent into drug addiction.

Ether isn’t a great diss song. The beat alone convinced millions of listeners that Nas bodied Hov. The lyrics aren’t even that insulting. Takeover and super ugly were way more vicious.

I agree. I think Nas got a pass based on his artistry in general rather than the actual substance of lyrics. Hov bodied Nas and got real personal, but that will never change the minds of hiphop fans who value Nas contribution to hiphop, and class Jay-Z as more of a commercial rapper.

So what does the ending the album with “Underground” represent? One of my fav of all time but could never really hone in on exactly what he was getting at? #ProstheticsAndHardTacos

War Pain is the best diss record in the Drake vs Meek beef and if it had all happened in an era where music wasn't expected to happen instantly the beef would be remembered very differently
