Jun 3, 2017 Saw this when it aired and knew there was going to be a s--- storm because of it. He's already apologized for the use of the word. Personally, I thought the joke fell flat so it made me cringe but I think people are overreacting. Bill's a comedian, comedy has always been a form of entertainment that's not politically correct or polite. I think an apology was probably for the best and he's done that. There are legit people calling for his head because of this though. Thoughts?
Jun 3, 2017 I mean I understand how people could take offense to it but you have to see the context here and understand that he's a comedian. All comedians go over the line with fat jokes, race jokes, gender jokes, gay jokes etc. That's what comedians do, they take serious subjects and make jokes out of them.
Jun 3, 2017 Exactly lol. And still... yes maybe its a stupid thing to do, but in a world where are many terrorist attacks, a president leaving the climate thing, shootings, etc etc happen, why the h--- do people make such a big deal over such a small and unimportant thing? Especially the way you just explained it. Smh
Jun 3, 2017 lol let's not act like this is fine because "he's a comedian", it was a stupid f---ing thing to say and he deserves the hate
Jun 3, 2017 I don't think anybody should make light of the word but I'm still confused as a white devil if I can even write it without people getting pissed off so ima sit out on this one
Jun 3, 2017 Yeah this, I think it was a bit different when Louis CK said it because it was about the word, this dude literally just made a slavery joke
Jun 3, 2017 It's the history behind the word. I don't think it's a word that should be socially acceptable but we've always made exceptions when it comes to entertainment. That's why an artist like Eminem who made a career off rapping about raping and killing his mom has become so successful. Only difference is Louis CK's segment was actually funny. This really wasn't funny. On the other hand though, Louis CK said numerous times while Bill only said it once and got all this backlash.
Jun 3, 2017 i hate his religious views and political views, but he said this a joking manner and nothing else, put your liberal pitchforks down.
Jun 3, 2017 he obviously meant absolutely no offence with this. I mean, it was a bad joke and he shouldn't have said it, but there shouldn't be made a big deal out of this.
Jun 3, 2017 He's a comedian on HBO who's known for "Politically Incorrect" material. It wasn't a wise choice for him to say it but based on the context, he was joking. This isn't Michael Richards going batshit racist at some hecklers. Maher made a joke in poor taste. He apologized so hopefully it's over. It would be lame af to see him lose another show over something he said.
Jun 3, 2017 When Maher hears field worker he thinks "n-----" but it was "just a joke" Whoopie Goldberg told a Bush-genital "joke" Colbert called our President, Putin's "cockholster" but it was just a "joke" Kathy Griffin held up a mock Trump's decapitated, bloodied head, but it was a "joke" Just k--- yourself if this offends you please. If all these other people get away with "jokes" I don't see why a white guy saying n----- is suddenly meaningful in any way. Unless I'm mistaken he didn't even didn't say er... what if he said "I'm a wetback" instead? No one would give a s---. He could have left the joke as "Work in the fields?..." and everyone knows that alludes to slavery... no one in their right mind hears that phrase and doesn't automatically know what it's referring to he just took it a step further.
Jun 3, 2017 Twitter ruined so much - It turned rappers who once made diss songs into 14 year old girls sharing their thoughts and feelings -like they matter more than anyone else- - Well... trump has twitter lol - attention whores actually get attention
