Mar 8, 2018 Today I went through my old Eminem folder to listen to songs I had forgotten about...this song to me has everything that I loved, he rode the beat, he had confidence and he didn't give a f---. This is a top ten em verse on a feature my opinion. May be my favorite feature. I know It will never happen but this is the em I want back. I just think this song doesn't get enough love.
Mar 8, 2018 I've never understood the obsession with wangsta wigga era Eminem. It's corny. Modern day Em, specifically Revival Eminem is better.
Mar 8, 2018 It's was the gangsta rap era that 50 made huge. I loved that em developed FIFs mentality. It was better then oh poor me I'm rich and can't go to target or recycled songs about Hailey. It was a certain energy to that em brought, now it's all yelling just to yell with little or no justification. But hey everyone has their favorite em style.
Mar 8, 2018 I respect that. I also appreciate you not attacking me for my opinion like 99% of the people on this forum.
Mar 8, 2018 What can I say I'm a lover not a fighter lol. But music is so opinion driven that their is no right answer. Some may be more aesthetically pleasing but that's about it. Lyrically it's a crap s---t. If you relate to a song its easier to like. As far as revival I'm not a hater, I just was disappointed because it had so much potential. Still think it's the worst on the discography but it's not trash it's just not great just good, mediocre. I still like nowhere fast, bad husband, believe, offended and in your head. Kinda out played arose.
Mar 8, 2018 2001 Eminem is still Peak Em, no matter what. I honestly feel like he had a marginal lunacy difference dynamic to his personality that would emphatically accentuate somewhat of an intimidating edge to him in comparison during that 2003-2006, Post-50 Cent and G-Unit Acquisition Eminem. He probably appeared to be less of a wimp by the time he signed Curtis Jackson and his hardcore rap/hip-hop collective in G-Unit. (Only because he was being an analytical Libra and wanted to avoid embarrassing his favorite new "flagship-carrier artist". by perpetuating that nomadic rich blue collar, blue-eyed, blond-haired, and formerly-underprivileged suburban workaholic wordsmith aesthetic he had carried for a good 5 years then as a signature maneuver/control command extracted from his trademarked repertoire.). At least Em deciding to walk around with a chip on his shoulder felt genuine and coincidentally transpired at an apropos time. It was cool in 2003, but it's luster wore off by the following year, and it seems to be the catalyst for his preeminent regression that would inevitably transpire, once D12World dropped in The Spring of 2004. It was all downhill from there. His prime didn't seem to last too long, but 1997 to 2001 is pretty d--- exceptional for a pinnacle period to me (Especially considering the fact that he's had a passion for this since he was 9.) d---, this is The Stanliest Post I've ever contributed to this music-dominant-and-focused message board's forum thread in a while. I apologize for that. I'm kind of ashamed. Also kind of elevated by that crud, buds. I'll be heading to work. HAVE A LOVELY AFTERNOON, D'AWLZ! P.S.: FREE MAX B, BETCH! That'd be hella......*Long Pause*.....*Makes Grim Facial Expression Reminiscent of And Allusive To The Likes of "Alicia Silverstone'd*(What I'm EEYIZ!!!!).....FETCH!!!!!!!! *Epic Hair-Flip Thrust By Back of Right of Own Hand....Like a BAOWSE!*
Mar 8, 2018 ^2001 was not Eminem's peak. TES and 8 Mile hadn't even come out yet! 2002/2003 saw Eminem at the height of his powers, and super-stardom. Shady Records was on top, and he had 50 in his corner; no doubt this was a part of Eminem total dominance of the industry at that point.
Mar 8, 2018 @Jay Zeus I see your point, to me his prime 97-04. I include 04 just because that was the start of the decline but it still had some great tracks. The saddest thing to me is the label could have been even bigger. Jimmy shelving artists while shady/gunit were on top was ridiculous. Stat, rakim and many more were victims of it. I even enjoyed the leaked stalanta tracks. This all hit me when I was listening to random old albums on spotify. I was listening to Tony yayos album and it made me realize that dur8ng that era they can make anything sound good. Tony yayo is a horrible rapper but I actually enjoyed most of that album. Scary.
Mar 8, 2018 Not talking about his creative peak, and besides, there's still plenty of creativity brewing in his work in the TES/8 Mile era (and beyond). 2002/2003 was the absolute peak of his career. Total dominance.
Mar 8, 2018 Especially Devil's Night. I always say that, if Devil's Night was either a solo album, or only had Proof and Royce as recurring features throughout that project, that it would undoubtedly be comprised of his absolute best material. "The Eminem Show" super overrated now. Still a really solid album though. I don't hate it. I just don't think it's "HIS" absolute best output.
Mar 8, 2018 His gangsta phase was corny as h---, but he had a handful of good/catchy features during that period. Welcome to Detroit Patiently Waiting One Day At a Time You Don't Know Hail Mary Warrior II
Mar 8, 2018 Can you cite some examples from this period that would fall under the 'corny as h---' category?
Mar 8, 2018 Corny is 10 songs with Skylar grey and remind me, that's corny. And I'm not knocking Skylar I do like some of those tracks for what they are but corny for sure.
Mar 8, 2018 FYI nothing's cornier then I wanna meter like a taxi. Much rather hear him wanna jump fools in the club and act gangster lol. We know both are fiction because he is soft and doesn't talk to women.
Mar 8, 2018 I’ve always maintained this era was my favorite Eminem era, the era this forum refers to as the “gangster era”. I think MMLP is his best solo album but my personal favorite time period is this s--- right here. I’m with you OP, when people ask what they expect or want from Eminem these days, the only thing I want is this confidence, this type of cadence, this type of flow, sprinkled in with this subject matter. But I realize it’s never gonna happen so I rarely post my thoughts in these types of discussions.
