Not looking for conventional classics, more what you'd consider personal s--- worth listening to, whether it's for sheer oddness, originality, or just regular old high quality.

Interesting question. there's so many albums that fall into that 'not quite conventional all-time classics' but I've never stopped listening to since I first heard them. a few off the top of my head:

Kurupt - Tha Streetz Iz A Mutha
    Scarface - Untouchable
Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design
    Cormega - The Realness
    Westside Connection - Bow Down
Ras Kass - Soul on Ice

And more recent ones that I can definitely see reaching that status
YNW Melly - I Am You
    Future - Purple Reign
Gucci Mane - Drop Top Wop
    Young Dolph - Bulletproof
    Maxo Kream - Maxo 187
Pop Smoke - Meet the Woo
