While the “2 Phones” rapper is currently serving a 30-month sentence in an Illinois jail, his wife Dreka is stepping up to the plate to put together his next project for his dedicated fan base. While her husband is locked up, Dreka is taking on the responsibility of putting together his next project, which she says comes with a lot of pressure while sharing the news on Twitter. “BTW working on Kevin’s new project right now and I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous as F b/c I’m not getting any input from him & he’s fully entrusted me w/everything so there’s a lot of pressure!” she wrote. “I respect real artists and their artistry and to be making ALL of the decisions is scary but rest assured the music is always fire as F!” We’re not sure of the details surrounding the project, such as the title or when we can expect it, but we’re looking forward to seeing what Dreka puts together while Gates is doing his time away. If you recall, the Baton Rouge hitmaker was completing a 6-month sentence in Polk County Jail for misdemeanor battery following an incident where he was seen kicking a woman at his concert, when he was arrested and convicted for a gun charge on the same day he was slated to get out. After being transferred to Illinois, he was then sentenced to 30 months in jail back in April, which he is currently serving.
