Prince was a genius musician. Better than Michael Jackson. Sue me.

This song gives me heavy Childish Gambino vibes... or I should say otherwise, but you know what I mean.

100%. I’m not downplaying Mikes talent either, because I love his music, but Prince has a true artists soul. He is probably the greatest musician to ever live in my opinion. The only real argument people have in the prince vs mike debate is the amount of princes filler but it’s like who gives a s---

Exactly, Mike was huge as f---, but Prince talent was something else. Both legends tho, I miss both of them.

I’ve been listening to this album ALOT lately and I think it may have replaced around the world in a day as my favourite prince album

ya @Ricky @Jeans it depends on how u define it. mike def was a genius all around Entertainer - dancer, etc. pure mainstream pop machine since birth. in terms of musician, artist def see prince with the edge. both innovative in diff ways

and jeans glad u posted this. listened to it while racking my leaves this morning its a bona fide bop

I’ve been going back and listening to these classic songs and albums a lot lately and I don’t want to sound like a boomer but isn’t it amazing the longevity they have? I wonder if anything released in our time will hold up as well as a thriller or a purple rain

Runaway by Kanye and Hello by Adele are examples of songs that are on the same level as Bohemian Rhapsody for example and the classics you've mentioned. 'Our generation' has definitely birthed some timeless pieces of music that will keep up with the changing tides, no doubt

Hard agree on both of those songs. It’s also hard to know which songs will hold up, only time will truly tell

If my kids don't immediately turn up once they hear the first note of Runaway's piano intro, I'll disown them.

I completely disagree with this take so please recommend me some Prince cuts that outdo MJ?

I personally enjoyed Mike's music more but Prince is a legend and Purple Rain is probably the greatest soundtrack of all time

    great thread
