Anybody use use Brave? I just moved to it today and hope to keep it for a minute. Offers you to earn money (in the form of BAT crypto coin) for allowing to be shown non-tracking ads. The browser as a whole is built around privacy to the Nth degree. It's also built on top of Chromium, which means it's a super easy transition (everything transfers over) from Google Chrome if you use it today. Interface is pretty similar as well + has both a desktop & mobile browser that sync to one another.

Also testing out duckduckgo as my search engine (Brave is working on one now).
Might also do protonmail...sick of these companies (google in particular) collecting all my god d--- data.

I like the look of it. Been using protonmail for years and highly recommend it. Google has such a stranglehold on society now that it’s impossible to fully get rid of it though, some chrome extensions either aren’t available or just don’t work on other browsers. I can’t get used to any other search engine either because they’re all so terrible/clunky looking.

I prefer startpage, if any alternative because they don’t take google’s biases and paid ads into account like duckduckgo. Gonna give Brave a trial though for general mobile browsing. One thing I don’t like about non-chrome browsers is that they make the “find in page” option a pain in the a--- to use which I don’t understand.

oddly enough, this is my biggest complaint as well. tbph, it's kinda intuitive, but it's difficult to switch muscle memory from having a dedicated in-page search vs the main search single bar up top

the only thing i selfishly don't like at this point is that adblocked is automatically turned on, so there goes all the ads on the site here... be a gem and allow ads here for me plz :)
i've also signed up for BAT ads, but it's oddly confusing and i don't think there's really going to be many contributions there cuz i think the user still needs to opt-in to even see them

Protonmail is good for certain things but if anyone not in the tech field gives me a @protonmail.com email to contact them I cut them off

is there a decent way to auto-forward your emails from an old gmail account to your new protonmail address without google still tracking what's coming in? my biggest struggle will be having to switch everything & have everyone email to my new proton address

Not that I know of, which is part of the reason I haven't done that myself. Only ever done gmail to gmail or like old comcast emails to gmail....but doing that to protonmail would kinda defeat the purpose lol

I was clearly joking. But protonmail is still not fully functional for a lot of things. Not to mention nowadays you need a gmail account for a f--- ton of stuff anyway and most the time when sharing files we go thru gdrive

Yeah everything with google is so integrated it's hard to break the mold.

looks like proton's business model can get pricey. free version only gives you 500mb storage; 4.00 € /month gets you 5gb
