Jan 10, 2017 With this new generation of mumble rappers I wonder where hip hop specifically is headed, part of me knows lil yatchy and uzi verts and the like won't really last long but also part of me knows that even if they fade, that style and standard of music might not? Like I'm all for being open minded when listening to music, but it really really seems like little to no effort is put into a mumble-rappers tape/project, or maybe i dont know enough to hear the good s---, but d---, like I don't know of a single person that really f---s with that whole movement, yet they seem to be blowing up bigger than ever. Who goes to a yatchy/vert concert? i'm really curious to know their demographics and why they poppin so much. And im not even hating on em, i'm legitimately trying to understand what about them and their music works. Whats your take on the status quo? If you're a fan of the above mentioned or mumble rap in general i'd love to hear your thoughts.
Jan 10, 2017 lo fi house is really popping right now, just more and more 80s rehashing in the pop world and migos run rap music
Jan 10, 2017 There's always going to be the "new generation" of rappers and there's always going to be the traditional rappers. I think the one main reason these "newer" generation rappers blow up is because of exactly that - they're new. They're different. The traditional rap is always gonna be there. It's not going anywhere. There's always gonna be a Vinnie Paz or an Immortal Technique killin the underground etc. These newer guys are rapping on new production and doing different s--- covering different topics and appealing to different demographics. You could argue it's one of the best things for hip hop's growth. Like I said the traditionalist rappers will always be around. These new generation rappers are reaching different areas and allowing the genre to grow. Plus people want new s---, they want fresh s---. This isn't the same old style again. I'm not as big a fan of the new guys as many others here but that's my observation.
Jan 10, 2017 No, it definitely isn't, it's just not understanding ATL slang. You don't get to blame the artist for your ignorance
Jan 10, 2017 Incorporating old or undiscovered sounds into these digestible genres like pop/r&b/hip-hop/rap. Hip-Hop/Rap would still be dominating/influencing everything tho
Jan 10, 2017 More bass distortion noisey production Different applications of reverb and autotune Weirder deliveries and focus on ad libs More projects in less time More underground artists getting mainstream appeal
Jan 10, 2017 an understanding or lack thereof of a certain type of slang doesn't make it sound less mumbly lmfao
