So factually, there’s no other answer than eminem. 2pac (and all other rap artists) fail to gain a worldwide fan base Edit: After a quick google search em is around 172mill WW, 2pac is around 75mil. So ya. I mean you can argue that em has been around way longer, but the only metric to prove popularity is the artists reach/sales, so it’s still em regardless.
Sep 21, 2017 This. I live in Japan and can confirm that Eminem is synonymous with rap for all intents and purposes. I'm asked what kind of music I like, and I say rap, and they say "oh, Eminem?" My students are high school age, and Drake and Kendrick are just about the only other western rappers they might be familiar with. Tupac and Snoop Dogg might be familiar names but thats about it. I know this discussion isnt necessarily about international popularity but it is a really important point to consider.

Sep 21, 2017 I can ask all the old people in my family who Kanye is and they would have no clue except that he may be a rapper. Wouldn't know a song or what he looks like. At all. Eminem? He's that foul mouthed bad influence for the children
Sep 21, 2017 There's a little overlap...a portion of people who care enough who Kim's husband is would already know Ye. Not all, but a portion. He's nowhere near as known to older people and people who don't avidly listen to/keep up with music as opposed to Eminem who is a cultural mainstay and phenomenon.
