Jan 22, 2020 When any other artist puts out an album, people either love it or ignore it. There are no hate groups dedicated to bashing those artists or albums. For example, the game can and does release a s-----y album, people go meh and move on. Why do people stop and focus on Eminem even though they dislike him and his work? Even wayne fans or previous fans simply say hes not been good in a while but thats it, no extra focus on him, no grudge, no hard feelings. With eminem its different, people go to lenghts to listen to him while hating what theyre hearing and then mock and insult him and his fanbase. Why is that? Why cant eminem just go under the radar if he sucks? Its like people are always trying to prove to everyone else "look, told you he sucks, everybody look!". I dont know but I really doubt people went hard against nas for not putting out illmatics all the time, and he is always on top lists based on old success. There is something specific about people who consistently bash on eminem. I've stopped enjoying south park a long time ago but i simply gave up, I dont need to prove my point why I stopped watching it. Its a really weird idea to be focused on something you hate. And dont tell me its because people used to love eminem and he fell off. If he fell off in 2004, its time to move on. But this is not to stop all criticism, I am just curious why the hate instead of disinterest and neutrality?
Jan 22, 2020 So its not about eminem, its about the fanbase? But then eminem is an innocent victim here
Jan 22, 2020 If you think Em is the only artist that gets scrutinized like that you’re simply not paying attention to or engaging with criticism of other artists. There’s plenty of places that have in depth convos about artists whether they flopped or not. Look at the discourse surrounding Kanye. When Wayne dropped Carter IV and IANAHB2 people shat on him endlessly. Em gets scrutinized because: 1. He’s one of the biggest artists of all time (not even just in rap) so pretty much everyone who likes music listens to his new albums. More people have stuff to say about it so it’s going to seem like more people love it or hate it because more people are talking about it 2. He had one of the most surprising and drastic dips in quality of any rapper in history. Like he went from Lose Yourself to Big Weenie in a year lol
Jan 22, 2020 I’ll also add that yes it’s because of stuff like this. When people gas an album like stans do (not just for Eminem, for any artist that has a huge/loyal fan base like t swift/Ariana/Kanye/drake/BTS/Nicki/etc) there’s going to be a rubber band effect on the internet from people who don’t like it. Part of it I think is because many stans can’t just say they enjoy the album and it’s not as good as his previous ones, it always had to be AOTY and no other artist can do this!!!
Jan 22, 2020 Correct, I am not engaging with criticism of artists I don't like. Or if someone or something that I like starts decaying in quality to a point where it's no longer what I want, I abandon ship. I have a problem with that. Not everything is for everyone. For example eminem's so called dumb jokes and punchlines. I see an artist who's having fun, not being afraid of making dumb jokes out of pure playfulness. Like Eminem doesn't know heavy duty diarrhea is a s-----y line (whoops). But then he'll get serious for a moment and impress the h--- out of you. Maybe my sense of humor matches his because dumb jokes for the sake of being dumb jokes are a wonderful thing. I'd rather listen to someone risk making a fool out of themselves than a serious song with no personality. Anyways, I am surprised at this post of yours because it's a nice reasonable take on it and I consider you one of the worst offenders in the hate department. I would have put you on ignore a long time ago if that were possible. I appreciate this post.
Jan 22, 2020 d---, never thought I would see a post from u like this Also bc is not a hater. There are a few but he's mostly reasonable. He and andy also give him props for the things they like
Jan 22, 2020 Criticism would be pointless if you only engage with things you like. Most people are on music forums and rap twitter to talk about both the good and the bad. I will always listen to Em's new albums because I enjoy talking about rap and keeping up to date with it and even his bad albums have a couple good songs on them. Have I been unfair to Em before? Of course lol everyone has kneejerk reactions to things sometimes. Em gets some unfair scrutiny because he's easy to make fun of but at the same time there are a lot of valid criticisms against him. People still s--- on Kanye during MBDTF era and people still s--- on Wayne during the Carter III era. If you're an artist with that much visibility it's always gonna happen, even in your prime.
Jan 22, 2020 @Big Cuntry but be honest, aside from u, andy etc u agree that there are people on this forum that literally just mention his bad things and never ever say anything positive lol. That has nothing to do w criticism imo Happens w other artists as well btw
Jan 22, 2020 If you think there isn’t a double standard in effect here, you’re straight-up delusional. Been watching the same s--- unfold in online music forums for 15 years. It couldn’t be more obvious.
Jan 22, 2020 Ya but most of the people who do that do it just to piss off stans. And if you wanna talk about unfair scrutiny, remember what the Thug/Future sections were like when they started?
Jan 22, 2020 I don't mind criticism. I gave this new album a 3/10 after a few listens. I thought there are no standout songs, reused punchlines, etc. But my kneejerk reaction wasn't to how s--- the album is, my thought was "I don't feel this at all" and I was happy that the overall take on the album was positive. What I do mind is passionate dislike/hate. I was initially simply disinterested, and as a die hard stan I should have been pissed off if my idol dropped s--- on me. I see a lot of that passionate hate here on this forum. But now you have me confused with second nice and reasonable post. Who are you? Who am I?
