Sep 26, 2017 When it comes to being the best rapper of all time I think it has to do with a lot more than just technical ability. I think technical ability is as much of an aspect of being the GOAT as subject matter, discography, delivery, voice, cultural impact and influence. 2Pac was good at all of these things, he had arguably the most meaningful content, a great voice, arguably the best delivery, and obviously the bigger impact but where he falls short is his discography, I don't think 2Pac has a better album than Biggie does. Ready to Die is a better album than any 2pac album. The Blueprint is better than Ready to Die and Good Kid Maad City is better than The Blueprint. Kendrick has arguably the greatest discography after Kanye west. Kanye's technical ability is what holds many against calling him the GOAT, Which leads me to believe technical ability is the most important aspect besides the music/discography itself. Kendrick doesn't have this issue though, he is technically great, his subject matter is that of Pacs, his conceptual-ism is unmatched. His voice is the only thing I can see anyone arguing against and voice is probably the least important aspect in the argument. I'm not saying Kendrick is the GOAT because I don't believe he is I believe Kanye and Jay have him beat when it comes to discography and technical ability, respectively, that barely put them over Kendrick given how good they both are at all other aspects as well. My question is why do people have an issue with admitting Kendrick may be better than Big/Pac and arguably the GOAT?
Sep 26, 2017 “Technical ability” is dumb if kanye rapped in a double time alien voice like Kendrick it would be way less effective than what he does But imo looking at rappers with categories like this like they’re 2K players is always dumb to me
Sep 26, 2017 I agree with your first point thats why I think he is the GOAT but im tryna be as objective as we can in bringing up all the points people have for/against all the rappers
Sep 26, 2017 You don’t be objective tho he’s your favourite rapper of all time which is fine trying to convince people you’re “right” is pointless
Sep 26, 2017 Nah I'm asking a question this isn't a pro kanye thread, the kanye point was kinda irrelevant to my question it was just the best example
Sep 26, 2017 Comparing impact to impact and discog to discog etc is fine but idk the whole “well tupacs content meant more but Kendrick has x classic albums but Wayne was infnluential” thing is dumb you can’t quantify any of that so it’s like why
Sep 26, 2017 Thats great, My question is why do people have an issue with admitting Kendrick may be better than Big/Pac and arguably the GOAT?
Sep 26, 2017 Because they’re dead and he’s new? Plenty of rap fans think Kendrick is one of the best of all time give it like 10-20 years
Sep 26, 2017 That's what im thinking but I feel like theres something I'm missing here man. If using your logic saying we can't quantify all those things than why tf do people crucify others for not putting big above kanye/kendrick, its stupid
Sep 26, 2017 Idk man they’re just oldheads it’s like people that think the Beatles are the best band oat it’s not that deep
Sep 26, 2017 TPAB Is easily Kendrick's best album, but his delivery and production put so many people off that his message and content got overlooked. Same with Pac... it's all option based, it's all about the ears of the beholder. Music means different things to different people. Just like some people love a certain food and others can't stand it. We all digest music differently. I see where you were going with the thread, but it's ultimately not going to reach unanimous verdict because we all digest music differently.
Sep 26, 2017 because if they're new they haven't stood the test of time yet so you really can't call them the best of all time also kendrick is a cornball and that pac interview/skit he cut up is one of the most cringeworthy things i've heard on a rap album
