Does anyone here do it? I started about a week ago and have done 5 workout of the days (WODs) so far. I love that I can sweat and get a high heart rate without running on a f---ing boring cardio machine for long periods of time. My favourites so far:

    9 Deadlifts (225-lb)
    15 Hand-stand pushups
    21 Pull-ups
    27 Burpees
    AMRAP for 30 minutes

    100 air squats
    50 box jumps (20-inch)
25 Dumbbell Clean and Jerks (45-lb)
    3 rounds for fastest time

The first workout above was my first ever class I took. When the guy told me 225-lb for Deadlift (which is near my ORM) I looked at him and asked him if he was f---ing crazy.

I mean obviously if you have problems then Crossfit won't be for you in the first place, but I don't feel like I sacrificed form anywhere. The workout forces you to max out, reset, and come back for one more. Once you hit failure you are doing 1 rep at a time until you meet your goal.

:hovcry: I don't want to get old.

was actually planning on going to find out what all the fuss is about soon. I've been doing serious interval training for the last 2 years so I'm not sure if I'm going to want to switch but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Culty and terrible for you, crossfit trainers for the most part have no idea what they're doing.. do you know how easy it is to get certified to open a Crossfit gym?

Those workouts are just gonna get you hurt... you'll sweat and get sore but you're better off doing research yourself instead of this awful, dangerous fad

I agree that certification is too easy, but if you are smart enough to know your limits and not always listen to a Crossfit "expert", it's nothing more than a workout routine to follow. The style of these workouts are similar to any Tabata or Interval training with more weighted exercises

Saying "what a f---ing clueless comment" isn't a response with any sort of credibility, especially coming from a chubby alcoholic

    Lololol mic ripping myril up

Ya crossfit is a shady new trend. Trying to sell itself on a gymnastic based sport. It's very unsafe. Doing deadlifts and then switching to clean and jerks is terrible for your body. You never want your lower back fatigued and stressed before starting clean and jerks. Your body will have instant gratification, yes, but it will inevitably wear and tear to the point where your will have future problems.

CF is r-----ed. Google image the founder of it (Greg glassman) lol. Nuff said.

Look I really love cross fit in the sense that it is something that has made working out "hip" and that it keeps a lot of people active and motivated who otherwise probably wouldn't be.... but I've got to say I agree with most this post.

@Ryan looking at your workout I mean I can't say I'm a fan of it but the thing that is REALLY alarming is the box jumps. Is there anyway you can just get rid of those completely? That exercise in those rep ranges is a one way express ticket to tearing an Achilles. I did depth jumps back when I used to play basketball and my rep schemes were like 4 sets of 3 MAX. And that was once a week, SOMETIMES two. I'd really, really suggest substituting those with something else.

And I don't want to come off like a hater or fitness elitist but that's just my two cents brother. The cross fit workouts are incredibly difficult and I'm not taking anything way from anybody's hard work. I just don't think it's very smart work.

Appreciate the comments everyone. Remember that 90% of the people at the gym work out using bro-splits as well with tons of isolation exercises which is awful for you as well. I'm gonna tone it back a bit on the high rep crossfit and mix in some cardio to my regular workouts to create my own Crossfit-style workouts.

I hate the negativity attached to CrossFit. It's effective if done correctly.

This here in terms of if the form is not correct for sure. Some thoughts below as well - warning it's a long post so I bolded the TLDR part - Quote me if you have any issues with my post or something you want clarification on.

Crossfit is alright... I mean this in terms of how the workouts are set up and what they try for you to do (circuits that are repetition based, as well working on functional movements and olympic power lifts)-

However, my issue with it is the cult like persona. It usually starts off with people who have tried many things and fail. Then they get into Crossfit and enjoy the Elite style and the competition with people. Since it's something new and NOT always the same workout they don't get bored. They stick with it and see results... The issue here is whatever exercise or fitness component you do, you will see results if you stick with it.

The problem then arises where these people have found success in Crossfit and feel they can judge other people's programs. For example: "Your strength training program is terrible, Crossfit is what you should be doing". Little do they know the simple Principle of Individuality. Not everyone is going to benefit from the same thing. As well, if you have a broad goal of getting in shape sure. But a body builder would not use Crossfit, they need to bulk up and use hypertrophy and focus on the form to get as much crossing of the muscle fibres.

An olympic lifter WOULD NOT use crossfit as they are focusing on strength training and deal strictly with neural recruitment (wanting neurons to recruit as many muscle fibres so they can have all of these fibres fire off at once so a max lift can occur and be efficient, at the same time having lighter days so they do not fry their nervous system). As well an olympic lifters scheduling is very different than a typical workout schedule. For example: it DOES NOT matter how you feel, your schedule may say 110% 2/1. Meaning you will lift or try to lift MORE than your 1 rep max for 2 sets of 1 rep. In other words overloading your muscles for the principle of overload and to try and recruit maximum fibres through your neurons.

Before this becomes TL:DR (which it probably already has) it is essential to Keep an open mind in terms of fitness and training, no one way is better than another. Anything will benefit you and it all boils down to what your goals are and what you want to achieve.

Crossfit is just asking for overuse injuries imo. Quality >>>> Quantity.
The amount of reps @Ryan is doing is way too much.
