Which would you say is better overall? Which would you go to if u could choose?
Public school you get the main trash of society mixed in with some future doctors, nurses, and lawyers but private school most of the people you go to school with will be going to college and become productive individuals in society. Private school is sometimes very sheltered and strict. Public school no uniforms and some teachers condone underage drinking and know that most of their students will end up dead or in jail.(especially in a city like Compton)

Most people who go to private schools develop less hands-on life skills from my experience. They seem to have a tendency of being spoiled too.

For a weak timid minded kid would it be better that they are sheltered instead of picked on and abused everyday?

How would they grow as a person if they are sheltered?

I went to both . I only went to a private school for sports but to be honest my years at VHS(public school) were way better. I'm glad I graduated there rather than the private school I went to for my sophomore year

Public School. You interact with a more wide variety of people.

I'd most likely send my kids to a primary school. I did both - majority private. Privates know mummy and daddy are paying heaps of money to sort of smoothly push you through because they don't want to cop the heat of rich parents (that is if you're not a straight A student). Public I loved for year 11 and 12 - the teachers would give me back an essay and say, "don't give me this s---, Charlie," and I'd respond so much better to that because I'd know flat out I can't just f--- around and eventually slide through.

Private school teachers beat around the bush and get you to "fix little things" so you'll pass - whereas my public school would just flat out say "nup," and I'd be like "f---, I can't get away with my usual antics here," - my English teacher actually stood in front of the class and told everyone I was the class clown at the start of the year and I was now beating all of them.

Private schools for the majority are very overrated - and there's definitely some that are "too private" in the way that they breed people with no street smarts who have grades but crumble in the real world due to the fact their social skills are non-existent. They only succeed if they never leave a bubble IE school to uni to degree to internship to job. Never have to actually live a little in the real world.

This is all just my experience and I don't know what it's like in other countries obviously.

Well I went to a private school, but I wouldn't say it was a good one with a high rep, i'd say we were all middle class. All my mates now went to public schools and I'm hardly different from them....

I dont get the slander for Private Schools here, you could get a great education that could lead to a great job.

^in saying that, the area of private school i went to certainly wasnt upper class. So I never knew any of those super privileged people that got a nice car when the turned 16. I cant comment on how they are as a person but I guess they are built up for success.

Some public schools in Australia are much better than people give them credit for. But if I had the choice and money wasn't an issue my children would be educated in private schools.

Having said that, private Catholic schools are pretty popular here and my kids would be going to one of them over my dead body.
