May 22, 2018 Maybe we'll get inspired and start a race war here, maybe then we can see who really bout it
May 22, 2018 this is f---ing bs. There is absolutely no ways anyone will be forced off their land. Just a bunch of fringe lunatics (admittedly on both sides, black and white) desperately trying to get attention. Apartheid f----- black South Africans hard, and almost 30 years later most black South Africans don't have s---. The government wants to distribute some unused, mostly already government-owned land to black people who have nothing - for farming, for housing, for schools and hospitals. White South Africans make up about 8% of the population here but own about 70% of the land at the moment. Thats a serious problem. The concern is that SA will degrade into a Zimbabwe-like state, but this situation is entirely different.
May 22, 2018 Stop complaining about racism while simultaneously dividing races and demonizing an entire group of people BASED ON THEIR SKIN COLOR
May 22, 2018 I won't claim to know much, but I do think the South African government is trying pass the land expropriation bill where they tend to take the lands away from the whites, I think it also happened in Zimbabwe, also the whites have been lately murdered in the south african sub continent owing to all this mess that've started
May 22, 2018 Yeah there's a bill. And the government is supporting it. It just means that poor black people who've never had anything might just have a fighting chance now. And the land to granted to them would be unused, government owned land. There is a fringe movement (black) thats trying their utmost to turn it into a Zimbabwe-like situation (where all land is taken from whites, regardless of their background or what they do with the land). But they're so small it'll never happen. Then there's a fringe movement (whites) that are screaming 'white genocide' because a few farmers were murdered (there are 100x more murders of black people in the cities every day). They're both f---ing morons but they're both getting way too much media coverage. If anything, the current president (Ramaphosa) is the best thing to happen to South Africa since Mandela. 90% of South Africans understand the need for land expropriation and and most support it. But i guess its the same everywhere in the world, the fringe idiots ruining it for everyone else.
May 22, 2018 Wouldn't making the economy/market more free, where the overwhelming black majority can have other alternatives to rely on to survive rather than government forcefully taking the lands of law abiding people and hence complicating property rights of people that can be misused by the future governments, be a better and a morally superior option?
May 22, 2018 In the 1800s a law passed that made it illegal for non-whites to own land. That was overturned only in 1994 when Mandela came to power. So now we have a situation where something like 70% of the land owned by white people (8% of the population). So, thats the thing, the land question in SA has been burning for decades. Of course it's not a panacea but people have been wanting this for generations. Its not about 'revenge', its just about trying to get some kind of semblance of balance, because right now the situation is completely lopsided - a rich white minority controls pretty much the entire country, while the black majority desperately scramble for scraps. The truth is white people are pissed off because they know their days of having the upper-hand is finally coming near to an end. The government has repeatedly assured that they will make every effort to make sure the country doesn't devolve into a Zimbabwe situation. You also have to remember that SA is miles ahead of Zimbabwe in almost every way imaginable - unless something goes seriously wrong, it will never get that bad. You're right though, that is the idea - to move to a more socialist model - this is just one step in the process that will probably land up being symbolic more than anything else. but its a great starting point.
May 22, 2018 Dude, I've been known to be biased towards my brothers and sisters for a while, this ain't nothing new Also who gives a f--- about those farmers, they need to give up the land
