im 21 and my life rules, i make a lot of money but i still live with my parents. i'm the only child and never felt a need to move out. i could afford it but i still live here. i pay modest rent tho because id feel like a f-- if i was leeching off my parents. when do you guys see as too old to keep living with your parents? from my view, as long as you are ok with it on a self respect level and you have a good relationship with your parents, it's cool.

as i see it, if i move out it bumps my rent from $200-400 a month to like $500-$800 a month depending on room mates and s---, and you're away from your fam more. tho im planning on moving out within a year or maybe 2. it's not an expense i have a need for at the moment and I'm doing fine still living here. what are your views on living at home?

It all depends on your personal situation. But from what you told us here I think it'd be good to prepare to move within the next 2 years. Maybe try to save money in that period so you have something to fall back on if moving out doesn't work out the way you expected. Or if for whatever reason you won't be able to pay rent for a month or 2 so you're not in immediate trouble.

nah im definitely ok for the forseeable future. i could move out now if i had a reason to but like i said i'm cool with living at home, my parents are cool with it, i kick some money in around the house and pay my own way, so i just don't see a reason to move out rn. i got money incase it doesn't work out or whatever but i just wanted to know other ppls thoughts on the subject.

I still think 23 in that case would be good. It's a good life experience to stand on your own and have your own responsibilities. s---, maybe even do it sooner if you're comfortable with that

yeah definitely. tbh that's the only reason i feel like leaving, the life experience. i dont feel like im leeching and i dont feel like im being hindered in any way by living at home, but i do feel like im missing something by not having my own place. so thats something im looking at for sure within the next year or 2.

you're 21 and you make a lot of money? i'd love to hear what you do. most ppl in there early twenties aren't making much money.

and there's really not an age that's "too old to be living with your parents". it all depends on your situation. i know several ppl who are in their late twenties and still live with their parents. they aren't bums. they simply don't make enough cash to live comfortably on their own.

If you're cool with your parents, then staying at home is the safe bet for as long as you can stand it.

I think the levels of feeling 100% comfortable having girls over is the #1 kicker for many.

There's pros and cons to each brah, GL cheah

Different cultures I guess my mum doesn't ever want me to move out but yeah American/Aussie/Brit/Canadian parents generally don't love their kids as much and will gladly take rent or kick them out

that's great man. good for you. but yeah, generally ppl aren't making much money that early in their lives. there's always exceptions, tho

like @SLAYAR said.....the main downside to living with parents is you really don't have any place to take/bring girls.

but if you get along with your parents and you don't have a problem living there............think about how much more money you can save

Well I just turned 20 2 weeks ago and still live with my parents. I've thought about moving out but don't think I can or really want to. All of my friends my age still with with their parents.

mine never asked for rent but when i got out of college and stared making my own money i kinda felt like i really should pay them or else id feel like a f---in loser so i kinda agreed to pay my own way with them despite them not needing/asking for anything.
its no rush. one of my good friends is out on his own now because he wanted to "move out for the experience" but he is dirt poor and works at a s-----y restaraunt for minimum wage 20 hrs a week and can barely afford his rent. actually 3 weeks ago he had to sell his car because he needed rent money. you're only shooting yourself in the foot moving out before you have to.

Whenever you and your family feel it's necessary. There really shouldn't be any other deciding factor.
