Jul 1, 2018 Streaming has swept the game the last two years among casuals and in a way I understand that because music isn't a big enough priority for them But those of you that frequent music forums what the f--- are you doing?!?!? There seems to be so many cons to streaming that far outweigh the pros CONS Political agendas: when an artist is swept in controversy these streaming services are pressured to pull the plug on them or boycott them. Regardless what young thug ever does in his life nobody can ever snatch him from my iTunes library that I own. Leaks/Demos/majority of mixtapes absent from streaming: will never be on these services, all the young thug/kanye leaks and demos I've gathered hundreds of them will never be streamable and over time will become even more rare as more and more people ditch their collections for s-----y "convenience" Not owning the music: sure you can play it but God forbid you don't pay your subscription you no longer have any right to the music and God forbid you're somewhere without service and forgot to query music for offline play you're f-----. Exclusives: Not being able to get an album upon release because it's an apple/tidal exclusive and being on the losing side of that. When TLOP dropped alot of people weeks after release never heard it because it wasn't on AM that's ridiculous Paying for digital subscriptions: As of now this isn't a huge problem yet most subscriptions will only cost you about $10 but with all the points listed above and the inevitable that once physicals / option to purchase an album are fazed out in the upcoming years streaming will have a monopoly on how we consume music and create a price hike for a watered down experience. You have options like free Spotify but can't even play an album in the order you want and have to sit through commercials People you need to OWN your music, build a collection no one can take away from you that includes those alternate/leak/demo versions and albums without worrying about sample clearance or political agendas
Jul 1, 2018 Where were you with the X thing and Kendrick threating to remove his music from Spotify for doing x dirty
Jul 1, 2018 That wasn't the result of outside pressure. That was an internal decision. I don't like the ability for platforms to play favorites, but your characterization of the issue isn't accurate.
Jul 1, 2018 What???? Why was that decision made? Because the controversy around X and the PC community giving backlash Spotify was simply the ones to fold for it cmon. Not to mention theres 4 other bullets in OP
Jul 1, 2018 and it wasn't even a decision to remove the music––it was a decision to stop highlighting them through editorial decisions. spotify botched the whole thing but it was soooooooooo far from what this guy is describing. i will never support an artist being removed from a platform. but again, that's never even been proposed. also, "the pc community" isn't a thing.
Jul 1, 2018 I did my time pirating s--- for 15 + years while I was at school and a poor student . Its annoying trying to find a decent link. I got Spotify and its so convenient, so much easier to browse for new music. I still got all the mixtapes that arnt on spotify on my devices. I always leave albums on repeat over night and give my favorite artists stream money to make up for all the times I stole their music. To put it straight @Tekashi The King of NY 69 is a broke boy who can't afford Spotify.
Jul 1, 2018 You just aren't smart enough it's not rocket science - pluspremieres: has d--- near every new album/single of any importance straight from the iTunes store legit iTunes 256 m4a the night of release - ulotzo: s/o the Czech Republic they have all sorts of s--- I've found obscure albums I needed in 320 - vk: another great site for old iTunes quality albums and singles - a simple Google search: something along the lines of "artist album zip" will most times bring you to a blogspot acct for any 60s-00s albums primarily rock or electronic Be resourceful
Jul 1, 2018 I never spend more than a minute with these sites and I have exactly what I want in iTunes 256/ mp3 320
Jul 1, 2018 Have never had a streaming service. Learned how to get anything I want in other ways over 10 years ago
Jul 1, 2018 Yep that's another thing depending on if you're on celluar service not connected to wifi you're by default getting a lower stream quality wasting battery to run that app connected to the network and potentially wasting data (some cellular companies atleast don't penalize you for music streaming but not all)
Jul 1, 2018 TIDAL has the best quality streaming out there. Apple music and spotify dont streaming in Hi Fi.
Jul 1, 2018 Literally everything I download is on my phone that I transfer to my PC when I use it. All the iTunes quality screen grabs and s--- I post were all originally downloaded on my phone...
Jul 1, 2018 I use to download music to my phone, but I bought a music player device dedicated to my music. Here's an example. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-w...-player-grayish-black/6185209.p?skuId=6185209
Jul 1, 2018 Do you know that you can download your mixtapes and leaks while paying for Spotify? It is that simple
